Material correction
A material correction changes the practical meaning of a claim: for example, an allergen-information rule, the scope of a study, the role of an ingredient, a jurisdiction or a safety boundary. The page should be amended and a dated correction note should describe the meaningful change.
Clarification
A clarification improves wording where the earlier text was technically defensible but could reasonably mislead. A note is appropriate when the ambiguity could change a decision.
Routine maintenance
Spelling, punctuation, broken-link repair and accessibility markup can be corrected without changing the substantive update date, unless the edit changes meaning.
Evidence review
Correction requests are evaluated against the underlying evidence. Assertiveness, commercial pressure and search performance do not determine the outcome. The source, jurisdiction, date and affected passage should be recorded in the internal correction log.
