Historical Evening

LondonSAM enjoys an historical evening with Shri Ashok Bhatt
Thursday 12th May, 2009 saw a unique event in the history of LondonSAM, a Business School in the heart of London. The directors, managers and staff of the School were privileged to host an audience with Shri Ashokbhai Bhatt, the Speaker of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, and Shri C.B. Patel, the Publisher and Editor of Gujarat Samachar and Asian Voice weekly newspapers.

Both the distinguished guests and their entourages were first given a tour of the College and introduced to key managers and staff. Thereafter, they were led to a large lecture theatre where they were introduced to a group of approximately 150 students from all over the world. Dr. Dak Patel, the Managing Director, Principal and owner of LondonSAM welcomed the guests and thanked all the attendants for joining him in giving a very successful reception to the guests. He gave a brief insight into the College and then requested Shri Ashokbhai to say a few words to the eager and attentive students.

Shri Ashokbhai’s speech inspired all the students and stressed to them the value of education. He also thanked the organizers of the event, Dr. Dak Patel and Harshad Kothari for arranging it at very short notice. Shri Ashokbhai was accompanied by his wife Jyotiben. Shri C.B.Patel then took to the podium and, in his unique and jovial style, gave a brief history of his news weeklies and also gave a very eloquent speech to the students.

Harshadbhai Kothari later gave a brief speech thanking the guests for accepting the College’s invitation to attend the event in their honour and for inspiring its founders, managers and students with their speeches, which were full of wisdom and encouragement.

LondonSAM was founded by Dr. Dak Patel five years ago. More than 5,000 students have since enrolled with the School, which offers professional and degree courses in Accountancy and Computing. The College has now been accredited by Staffordshire University to conduct degree courses and by the University of Wales to conduct MBA courses. LondonSAM also has a branch in Poland where its students are from blue chip international companies including Hitachi and Arcelor Mittal. Some 700 students enrolled over the years have been from India, mostly from Gujarat.

LondonSAM is the only Gujarati-owned College in the whole of the UK that has been accredited by more than 15 UK Educational Institutes; it has also been recognised as a Trusted Partner by the British High Commission in Mumbai.
